9-BACK TOHT CARDED SAMPLE

   This amazing piece was just recently discovered and it fulfills a quest that began all the way back in 1983. Since the release of the 9-Back wave in 1983 there had been rumours that both TOHT and the Cairo Swordsman had been re-released along with Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood on the 9-Back cardbacks. However, no proof of these claims ever surfaced and it has been assumed for a long time that none of these made it into production. There was further speculation when it was revealed that there had been some intial plans to release both TOHT and the Cairo Swordsman on the 9-Back cards because the proof sheet for the 1983 wave had surfaced that showed 9-Back variations of both of the cards, it can be seen here. This would not necessarily mean, however, that they went into production or even that carded samples had been made of them. That was until now.

Pictured above is physical proof that at least one carded sample of each was made. Unfortunately the source of this sample did not have in thier possession a sample of a 9-Back Cairo Swordsman. However, being that this TOHT exists it is hopeful that somewhere still lies waiting to be discovered a 9-Back Cairo Swordsman. This sample has been confirmed by respected action figure authorities as being the real deal and considering this is the only one of these known to exist this is the rarest carded Kenner Raiders of the Lost Ark action figure! It is by its uniqueness even rarer than the carded Belloq in Ceremonial Robes!

It is interesting to note as well that is a slight change on this carded sample than on the version that is printed on the 9-Back proof sheet. Kenner removed the World War II German insignia from TOHT's pin on the carded sample's character photo. Looking here one will notice that it is still present on the proof sheet. Kenner had been successful in covering it up on the 4-Back with the Belloq Offer and on the original 4-Back proof sheet with TOHT's nameplate.
