"Be the first player to obtain the Staff of Ra, seek out the Secret Map Room and find the Sacred Ark."

    Although not really a toy the "Raiders of the Lost Ark Game" released in 1981 was the very first item released as part of the Kenner collection. This board game is quite unique in that it displays art for a scene that was not even in the movie and actually is from pre-production movie artwork done by Steranko (with a few modifications) when Tom Selleck was originally offered to be Indiana Jones that is why the character on the artwork does not look like Harrison Ford. Nonetheless one cannot help but admire the over all appearance of the piece.

    The game describes itself as the following:

    "A strategy game of intrigue and adventure ... Travel the world in search of the magical Ark. Ambush our opponents or hold them hostage to obtain the sacred Staff of Ra. Find the Map Room and then rush to the country where the Ark is hidden. For 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up."
